Cayman Swimmers Dominate Opening Events on Day 2 In Jamaica

Cayman swimmers are "all over the meet" during the opening events of Day 2 in Jamaica!

Samantha Bailey and Ella Plunkett opened the proceeedings with gold and silver in the 11/12yrs 200m backstroke; both improving their CARIFTA Times with 2:42.66 and 2:51,23 respectively; Jade Barnes placing 6th in 3:09.56.Sam Burnstein took bronze in the 11/12yrs 200m backstroke with a new CARIFTA time of 2:55.31 whilst teammate Eddie Weber finished 7th in 3:05.33.

Isabella Tognazzo took bronze in the 13/14yrs 200m backstroke (2:46.24) but unfortnately backstroke specialist, Lauren Hew, was disqualified for a technical infringement.. In the Boys 13/14yrs event Cole Morgan continued to make great strides with a gold medal winning performance of 2:22.98.

Coral Tomascik lifted the 15/17rs 200m backstroke title in 2:35.65 with Bethany Cleaver placing 4th in 2:54.18.

Avery Lambert dominated the field in the 8yrs & Under 200m IM to take gold in a new CIASA record time of 3:46.29; Marissa Poole ( a year young) taking 6th in 4:24,81.

In the 9/10yrs boys 200m IM Corey Westerborg obliterated the opposition with a golden performance of 3:30.29 and in the corresponding girls event Ali Jackson and Zororo Mutomba made it a Cayman 1-2 with gold and silver medals (3:04.91 & 3:07.05). Jordan Crooks looked impressive when winning the 9/10yrs boys 200m IM in 3:08.25; Krishna Adapa taking 7th in 3::42.80
