Jamaica..8 Medal Haul In The 100m Freestyle

Cayman based swimmers amassed 8 medals in the 100m freestyle this evening....including 3 gold!

Ali Jackson continued her magnificent meet by taking the 9/10yrs 100m freestyle in 1:13.37...a mere 2 one hundredths outside the CIASA record which has stood for 13yrs! Zachary Moore responded in the 9/10ys boys with a bronze medal winning swim of 1:15.84; Jordan Crook finishing 4th in 1:19.38

Sam Bailey clinched silver in the 11/12yrs 100m freestyle in 1:08.74 whilst Sarah Jackson continued to prove her race toughness with a bronze medal; her time of 1:11.77 being a new CARIFTA time. Stefanie Boothe and Ella Plunkett finished 7th & 8th respectively in this event.

Lauren Hew, buoyed by her 100m backstroke swim, took 4th in the 13.14yrs 100m freestyle in 1:06.99 with Ashely Theaker finishing 5th in 1:07.15; both inside the required CARIFTA time. Katie Klein took 6th and Isabella Tognazzo 7th.

Danielle Boothe and Coral Tomascik battled it out in the 15/17yrs 100m freestyle; Danielle taking gold in 1:01.60 and Coral silver in 1:02.87..Bethany Cleaver placed 7th in 1:07.51.

Avery Lambert demonstrated her competitive edge when taking bronze in the 8yrs&U 100m freestyle; teammates Maeve Andersen (4th) and Amber Barnes (7th) also making up the Top 8. In the boys 8yrs & U 100m freestyle Corey Westerborg picked up yet another gold medal; his 1:25.40 being an impressive lifetime best.
