More Medals To Wind Up Saturday Night in Jamaica
Cayman swimmers continued to add medals to their Pirates Treasure Chest as the Saturday evening session of the Walter Rodgers Meet in Jamaica came to a close.
Samantha Bailey sprinted to silver in the 11/12yrs girls 50m backstroke in 37.46; Ella Plunkett taking bronze (37.57) and Sarah Jackson 4th (38.2)..all three being inside the CARIFTA Time.
Lauren Hew utilised her superior underwater dolphin kick to power her way to bronze in the 13/14yrs 50m backstroke in 34.69; Katie Klein taking 6th in 38.51. Cole Morgan, one of this years most improved swimmers, added another gold medal to his collection with a 31.93 50m backstroke in the boys 13/14yrs.
Coral Tomascik, gaining confidence with every swim, took the 15/17 yrs 50m back title in 34.41, Bethany Cleaver in 4th (38.04) and Lauren Williams 5th (38.45)
Medals in the butterfly events proved a little elusive to our team. However, Zororo Mutomba and Ali Jackson staked their claim in the 9/10yrs category; Zoro taking gold in 37.51 and Ali bronze in 38.12. In the corresponding boys event Jordan Crooks clinched silver in 36.52 and Zachary Moore 4th (41.24)
Kavanagh Lambert continued to cope well with her demanding programme by securing bronze in the 11/12yrs 100m butterfly in 1:16.44; Ella Plunkett showing much improvement with a 5th place finish in 1:30.81.. Sam Burnstein swam to 5th in the 11/12yrs boys 100m fly in 1:24.55 with Matthew Somerville finishing 8th in 1:25.48.
Flynn Hope and Isabella Tognazzo hit a Top 8 finish in the 13/14yrs 100m butterfly; Flynn taking 4th (1:20.22) and Isabella 6th (1:26.19). Iain McCallum, more comfortable on his speciality stroke, swam to 5th place in the 15/17yrs 100m butterfly in 1:07.43.
