Gold Medals, CIASA Record, CARIFTA Times In Breaststrokes
The breaststroke events of the final morning session in Jamaica brought Gold Medals, a CIASA Record, new CARIFTA Times and a host of lifetime best performances.
Gold Medal Machines, Corey Westerborg, Ali Jackson, Kav Lambert, Isabella Tognazzo and Danielle Boothe continued their amazing golden run.
Corey Westerborg once again dominated the field in the 8yrs & U boys; his 50.91 50m breaststroke being well ahead of the field.Maeve Andersen (58.35) and Avery Lambert (59.75) placed 4th & 6th respectively in the 8yrs &U girls event.
Ali Jackson stormed to victory and a new CIASA Record of 43.37 in the 9/10yrs 50m breaststroke; the previous record having stood for 10yrs. Zororo Mutomba finished 6th in 47.50. Zachary Moore (48.97) and Krishna Adapa (49.98) went 5th & 6th in the 9/10yrs boys category.
Kav Lambert overcame her butterfly DQ disappointment to stamp her authority on the girls 11/12 100m breaststroke in 1:26.93; Sarah Jackson taking bronze in 1:30.69 (new CARIFTA time) with Stefanie Boothe (1:31.23) and Sammie Rowland (1:35.66) placing 4th & 6th.
Isabella Tognazzo and Danielle Boothe put in winning performances in their respective age groups; Isabella taking the 13.14yrs 100m breaststroke in 1:25.99 and Danielle taking the 15/17yrs event in 1:19.43; Coral Tomascik backing up Danielle with a 6th place finish.
Alex Dakers, gaining confidence throughout the meet and showing his preference for long course, raced to bronze and a CARIFTA time of 1:30.99 in the 11/12yrs 100m breaststroke.
