Rocket Like 50m Sprints Finish Jamaica Meet

Cayman swimmers finished the Walter Rodgers Meet in Jamaica with Rocket Style 50's

Corey Westerborg completed a golden clean sweep of events by powering his way to victory in the 8yrs&U 50m freestyle (37.44) whilst Maeve Andersen took bronze in the corresponding girls event in 42.07; Avery Lambert 4th (42.54) and Amber Barnes 8th (45.16) addded to the Cayman presence.

Zororo Mutomba blasted down the pool to take the 9/10yrs 50m freesttyle title in an impressive 31.51; golden girl Ali Jackson also making the podium in 3rd with 32.99. Zachary Moore clinched bronze in the 9/10yrs boys event (34.06); teammate Jordan Crooks 5th (35.23)

Samantha Bailey, demonstrated her fine range of events (50m through to 400m) with a blistering 30.53 victory in the 11/12yrs girls 50m freestyle; Stefanie Boothe (31.45), Sarah Jackson (31.69) and Ella Plunkett (31.93) going 6th/7th/8th...great bunching! In the 11/12yrs boys Matthew Somerville placed 8th in 31.13.

In the Girls 13/14yrs 50m freestyle there was also a strong Cayman presence in the Top 8; Isabella Tognazzo hitting a CARIFTA time of 30.89 for 4th place. Katie Klein 6th (31.18), Lauren Hew 7th (31.25) and Ashley Theaker 8th (31.29) filling the minor placings.

Coral Tomascik, now well on the road to recapturing lost form, sprinted to bronze in the 1517yrs 50m free in 29.26.

Still work to do for Kyle Fraser in amongst the big boys....but his 27.55 50m freestyle reinforced his 15/17yrs CARIFTA time

GREAT job from all concerned...swimmers/coaches/team staff and parents....been a while since we've made such an impact!

We still have a way to go ..BUT...we are getting there...
