Injury & Illness At The Olympics

In a study of 10,568 athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games it was found that 11% and 7% of athletes incurred at least one injury or illness respectively.

Women suffered 60% more illnesses that men and the rate of illness was highest in athletics, beach volleyball, football and sailing.

41% of illnesses affected the respiratory tract and the most common cause was infection.
