Backstroke Starting Platform Being Considered

At the recent Russian Championships a starting block add-on which creates a ledge for backstroke starts was tested out.

Manufacturers plan to have a similar piece of apparatus available for testing at the World Championships this summer.

Part of the proposed rule changes up for consideration at this summer's FINA Congress are changes to the backstroke rules which may allow such temporary ledges to be used.
