Cayman Closes St. Pete With Fine Performances

 
Cayman swimmers closed the SPA Open Meet in St Petersburg with some fine performances.

The meet, which has highlighted the resurgence of Cayman Swimming, saw outstanding swims from local swimmers.

During the closing session the standouts were:

Catriona Macrae (pictured) was back to her best with a silver medal winning performance in the 13/14yrs 100m backstroke of 1:12.83 whilst Alex McCallum, buoyed with confidence, swam to bronze in the Snr 100m backstroke in a lifetime best of 1:03.61...Cole Morgan swam to 6th place in the same event with 1:05.64.

Lauren Hew, her eye firmly on the Canadian Nationals in Montreal, popped in an impressive 1:12.27 in the Snr 100m backstroke whilst Alex McCallum sprinted to a 56.82 100m freestyle to take 6th spot.

Other Top 10 finishes were:

Cole Morgan 8th Snr 200m IM (2:25.34), Catriona Macrae 8th 13.14yrs 200m Im ( 2:47.46), Alex McCallum 10th Snr 50m free 26.51, Katie Klein 7th 13/14yrs 50m free (30.93) Ashley Theaker 10th ( 31.15), Jonathan Key 9th 13.14yrs 50m free (29.98)
