Boom! Boom! Time For Fraser Boys In Bermuda
It was Boom! Boom! time for Brett and Shaune Fraser as they lit up the pool at the Island Games in Bermuda.
Going head to head in the 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly they obliterated the opposition and both swam inside new Island Games Records. However, it was Brett who had the midas touch this time, taking the 100m freestyle title in 47.65 ahead of Shaune on 47,79 and the 50m butterfly on 23.26 ahead of Shaune's silver on 23.44.....Brett's time of 23.26 also being a new CIASA Record. Imagine watching such races!!!!
Lara Butler, the medals machine, has now hit 5 for 5 in terms of medals and CIASA Records; tonight taking silver in the 200m backstroke in 2:18.31.
Once again the Cayman quartet stepped up to the plate in the 4 x 100m Medley Relay but despite astonishing splits were still denied Gold; their silver medal was a superb performance with each swimmer giving it their all: Alex McCallum 59.37, Shaune Fraser 1:01.90, Brett Fraser 51.92,Geoffrey Butler 53.52. What a Team!!
Alex McCallum dropped an amazing 7 seconds on his lifetime best to take 4th in the final of the 200m backstroke with 2:06.38. Alex has spent the past year on island as a full time swimmer (plus some valuable work experience) with a programme in which he believes and with a coach who has unwavering belief in his abilty. ...this is the perfect combination and has paid dividends....it's a year well spent and Alex is a different person/swimmer from a year ago....he is now ready for the next stage of his swimming/academic career.
Great job Alex.
So, with 6 more medals on the board plus another 2 CIASA Records we are going well!
We now have 15 medals; our second highest medal count ever...the best count was 21 medals...oh, there's a day to go! Let's see what happens!!
Keep supporting your team...(doesn't it feel better to be on with a successful team! :))
Cayman Swimming...
It's only just starting !
