Iron Man Lurz Wins 25km At Worlds

Thomas Lurz (Germany), the undisputed iron man of Open Water Swimming, won the 25km race at the World Championships in Barcelona.

The spectators were treated to exciting nailbiting finishes as in the Men's 25km the medalists were separated by only 1.1 seconds and in the Women's 25km race by a mere 0.7 seconds.

Men's Medallists were:

SILVER   Brian Ryckerman (Belgium)   4hrs 47mins 27.4 secs

BRONZE Evegeni Drattcev (Russsia)   4 hrs 47mins 28.1 secs

Women's Medallists were:

GOLD       Martina Grimaldi (Italy)          5hrs 07mins 19.7 secs

SILVER     Angela Maurer (Germany)     5hrs 07mins 19.8 secs

BRONZE   Eva Fabian (USA)                 5hrs  07mins 20.4secs
