Le Clos and Van De Burgh Strike Gold For South Africa
South African swim stars, Chad Le Clos and Cameron Van De Burgh, made their country proud when they struck gold in tonight's finals session at the World Championships in Barcelona.
Chad le Clos, nicknamed the Phelps Slayer after his victory in London last eyar, played a waiting game in the 200m butterfly, a blistering final 50m seeing off the opposition. Le Clos took Gold in 1:54.32 ahead of Pawel Korzenowski (Pol) 1:55.01 and Wu Peng (China) 1:55.09).
Cameron Van De Burgh, anxious to turn the tables on 100m breaststroke winner Christian Sprenger, did just that with a display of power and speed in the 50m breaststroke; Van De Burgh taking Gold in 26.77 and Sprenger Silver in 26.78.....0.01 second margin!!
Missy Franklin continued her winning ways with a superb victory in the 200m freestyle; Franklin taking the title in 1:54.81 from Federica Pelegrini (Italy) 1:55.01 and Camille Muffat (France) 1:55.72.
Sun Yang (China) took his second Gold of the Championships with a 7:41.36 800m freestyle; Michael McBroom (USA) 2nd in 7:43.60 and Ryan Cochrane 3rd in 7:43.70
