The Importance Of A Good Finish!
With 8 talented, powerful and fast men all looking to clinch the 100m freestyle title at the World Championships the finish was always going to be crucial!
The results were:
GOLD James Magnussen (Aus) 47.71, SILVER James Feigen (USA) 47.82, BRONZE Nathan Adrien (USA) 47.84 4th Cameron McEvoy (Aus) 47.88
0.17 separated the top 4 swimmers, someone missed a medal by 4 one hundredths!
Remember the simple rules: No Breathing from the flags, head down on the finish, time the hand touch to perfection.
Cast your mind back to the 100m butterfly final at the 2008 Olympics when Michael Phelps seemed to do the impossible with one stroke to go. Look at the pictures again....Cavic had his head up into the finish and Phelps had his head down...
(On the above water shots Phelps is on the right. On the underwater shots Phelps is on the left)
simple!
