World Championships Come To A Close

The curtain has come down on the World Swimming Championships.

Highlights of the final session were:

Camille Lacourt (Fra) won the 50m backstroke in 24,42 with teammate Jeremy Stravius 2nd  in 24.54.....yes, Liam Tancock's World Record is still in tact!

Yuliya Efimova (Rus) took the 50m breaststroke in 29.52 ahead of Ruta Meilutyte 29.53! Interestingly Ruta will have collected $75,000 in prize money at these Championships ( 2 World Records plus a Gold and a Silver)

Ranomi Kromowodjojo (Neth) took Gold in the 50m freestyle (24.05), Cate Campbell (AUS) silver (24.14) and Francesca Halsall Bronze (24.30).

Sun Yang (China) completed the distance treble by claiming the 1500m freestyle (14:41.15) ahead of Ryan Cochrane (CAN) 14:42.48)

Katinka Hosszu (HUN) won the 400m IM (4:30.41) from Mireia Belmonte (Spain) 4:31.21.

This ends a fantastic 8 days of racing...
