USA Swimming National Team member Emily Brunemann (Crescent Springs, Ky.) wrapped up the overall women’s title in the 2013 FINA 10-kilometer Marathon Swimming World Cup following the eighth and final race of the season Oct. 5 in Hong Kong.

Brunemann, who finished 10th over the weekend in Hong Kong, topped the series standings with 107 points. Martina Grimaldi of Italy was second with 98 points, while Brazil’s Ana Marcela Cunha concluded the 2013 series with 96 points.

Brunemann opened the 2013 series with back-to-back wins in Santos, Brazil, and Viedma, Argentina, and added a victory in Lac St. Jean, Canada, in July. She also placed second in Shanteau, China, and third at Lac Megantic, Canada, for five podium finishes in the eight series events. 
 
A Club Wolverine standout and NCAA All-America swimmer at Michigan, Brunemann is the first American to win the overall FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup title since FINA went to the 10K race format in 2007.
