Nine Named to International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame

Ed Evelly of Canada is the Vice Chairman of the UANA Masters Committee

The International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame has announced its nine honorees for 2017: Anne B. Adams (USA), Freider Class (GER), Evereth Evelly (CAN), Ann Hirsch (USA), Grete Peschek Kugler (AUT), Danielle Ogier (USA), Yoshi Oyakawa (USA), Silke Hohlstein Terwesten (GER) and Hugh Wilder (USA).

Adams was named an International Masters Honor Swimmer after setting 12 Masters world records between the 40-44 and 60-64 age group. Class was an Honor Masters Water Polo-Player/Coach/Contributor after winning seven gold, three silver and three bronze medals at the FINA Masters Water Polo Championships as either a player or a coach.

Anne Hirsch

Evelly earned the recognition as an Honor Masters Swimming Contributor after spending eight years as chair of the FINA Masters Swimming Commission. Hirsch, another Masters Honors Swimmer, has set 12 FINA Masters world records and was named 2016 Pacific Masters swimmer of the Year (irregardless of age group).

Danielle Ogier

Kugler is a Masters Honor Diver in recognition of her large collection of Masters World titles across the 1m, 3m and 10m events, while Ogier has set 20 Masters world records to earn the title of Masters Honor Swimmer. Oyakawa, another Masters Honor Swimmer, has set 27 world records across nine age groups.

Silke Hohlstein Terwesten

Terwesten was the only Masters Honor Synchronized Swimmer on the list after winning 10 Masters World titles in synchro and taking home three silver medals. Finally, Wilder earned the title of Masters Honor Swimmer after setting 25 FINA Masters World Records.
