THE Y EASP VOLUNTEERS ARE A RAY OF SUNSHINE!

The Y is always on the lookout for great volunteers and we have been blessed to have Sunrise Community Church as part of our volunteer programme.

Sunrise places a strong emphasis on community outreach and has adopted the George Town Primary Extended After-School Programme (EASP)  as one of its community projects. Over the past few years, Sunrise members have visited the GT Primary site weekly and made meaningful connections with the school community.

The church also makes a monetary donation to the EASP each term.  Their contributions recently allowed us to launch   'Learning through Play'  at GTPS. This initiative is focused on Literacy and allows Sunrise volunteers to have a specific impact on the kids.

Thank you  to Sunrise Community Church for their support of the Y. We appreciate you!

If you or your organisation are  interested in volunteering  at the Y, email us at info@ymcacayman.ky or call 926.9622 .

TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!

The Y's BesTeams Team Building and Leadership Development programme has reached more than  500 participants and 20 organisations in the Cayman Islands.

The initiative builds stronger relationships

through fun, insightful, experiential activities.  Conflict resolution , a critical indicator of organisational success, is developed through learning strategies for disarmament, and embracing differences. The lasting results include:

  • Improved communication, trust, and problem solving
  • Greater productivity
  • Boosted morale and camaraderie
  • Decreased stress
  • Stronger relationships

To learn more  about how your team can benefit from this programme, email us at info@ymcacayman.ky.

We want to introduce you to  JARDAE LAWLER , one of our Counsellors In Training (CIT), and all around amazing human being.

Jardae became a part of the Y family in the summer of 2014 at the YMCA's first summer camp.  She was 10-years old. She transitioned into the CIT programme just this past summer when she turned 13.

She loved camp so much that she could not wait for the school break camps or summer camps to start but Jardae had her heart set on being a CIT.

Her mom says Jardae has always been mature and responsible, and becoming a CIT has helped her cultivate her natural ability for leadership. It has also made her a much more confident young lady.

Jardae says she has as much fun as a CIT as she did when she was a camper but her new role requires more responsibility, for both herself and the group as a whole.

What does she love most about being a CIT? The opportunity to be a leader. Being able to guide and assist the younger kids is very fulfilling.

We're so glad Jardae found her place at the Y, and we are blessed to have her as part of the Y family.
