Pirates Week 37 th Annual Open Water 5K as sponsored by KPMG
George Town, Grand Cayman:
The 37th Annual Pirates Week 5K Sea Swim, sponsored by KPMG, is taking place this Saturday
November 11, 2017. The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association (CIASA) is pleased to host
international swimmer and three time Olympian, Stephanie Horner, for this open water event.
Date: Saturday 11th, November 2017
Venue: Governor's Beach
Registration: On race day, 6.00am to 6.45am
Course: 4 rectangular loops of 1.25km
Race: Start and finish at Governor's Beach at 7:00am
Cost: CIASA Members = CI$25 / Non-CIASA Members = CI$30
Open Water clinics will be conducted at Governor's Beach on Friday, 10th November, 2017. The clinics
will be conducted by Stephanie Horner and Bailey Weathers.
A. 3.30pm - 4.30pm for swimmers 13 and over
B. 3.45pm - 4.45pm for swimmers 12 and under
Stephanie Horner is from Canada and is a freestyle and butterfly specialist. After having won four
medals at the 2007 Pan American Games, Horner competed for her native country at the 2008
Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, and at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Horner also made
the 2011 Canadian World Championships team, qualifying in the 400-metre individual medley event at
the 14th FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. In 2016, she was officially named to Canada's
Olympic team for the 2016 Summer Olympics in the open water swim event. In April 2017, Horner was
named to Canada's 2017 World Aquatics Championships team in Budapest, Hungary."
