Hausding breaks China's dominance in Rostock

 


FINA DIving grand prix 2018

 

Germany's diving ace Patrick Hausding proved his impressive skills by breaking the Chinese domination of the first leg of the 2018 FINA Diving Grand Prix in Rostock (GER) on February 23-25, clinching the gold medal in the men's 3m event.

After six rounds, Hausding scored 493.35 points and was followed by Jahir Ocampo of Mexico (479.65), while Nikita Shleikher (RUS) took bronze (443.80).

Germany grabbed another gold medal in the women's 3m synchro as Lena Hentschel / Tina Punzel got the highest score (293.10). The Mexican pair Arantxa Chavez / Dolores Hernandes took silver 284.10, while Millie Haffety / Scarlett Mew Jensen of Great Britain climbed on the last step of the podium (270.51).

In the men's competition, China's star Qiu Bo excelled in the platform event and pocketed the gold medal with 556.70. Tai Xiaohu (CHN) and Nikita Shleikher (RUS) followed him in this order with 498.50 and 456.05 respectively.

Huang Xiaohui (357.90) and Si Yajie (356.55) of China were the best in the women's 3m and 10m events.

Great Britain, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia and Ukraine were other nations on the podium this weekend in Rostock.
