It has been a long time since a Cayman Islands Girls Relay Medaled during the CARIFTA Games; 2006 to be exact! That streak was broken in the 400 Medlay Relay here at the 2014 CARIFTA Games. The team of Lauren Hew, Sarah Jackson, Kav Lambert and Samantha Bailey placed 3rd in the 13-14 Girls 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:45.91.

On Day two of the 2014 CARIFTA Games Lauren Hew added to the success of the Cayman Islands Team with a win in the 13-14 Girls 100 back. Lauren's time was 1:07.21.

Lauren Hew qualified for the World Youth Olympic Games during the first day of competition at the 2014 CARIFTA Games. Lauren qualified in the 50 Back with a time of 31.23.

The 2014 CARIFTA departs for Aruba on April the 20th. Competition begins April the 22nd. Pool competition concludes April the 25th and the Open Water Races are the 26th of April. This year's team will includes 28 members, 16 women and 12 men. The team includes 12 first time CARIFTA competitors. Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association announced today that Catriona MacRae and Iain McCallum will be team Captains for the 2014 Cayman Islands CARIFTA Swimming Team.
