The South African National Championships have been delayed by a day due to a filtration system breakdown...not good to race in green water http://www.swimnews.com/News/view/10240 See, we aren't the only ones who have technical hitches like floodlight malfunctions etc. in fact our pools at Camana Bay and Lions are looking magnificent these days!
The CNB Cayman Brac 800m Sea Swim takes place this Saturday (20th April). Get your plane ticket booked, pack the swimsuits and hit the water. whooshhh!!!
One Hundred and Nine competitors took to the waters off Governor's Beach for the LIME 800m Sea Swim. Many close races occurred as the competitors crossed the finish line at Public Beach. In the Men's Race; Geoffrey Butler continued his CARIFTA winnig ways by narrowly touching out Alex McCallum; Matthew Courtis taking bronze. In the Women's Race, Danielle Boothe took the title ahead of Lara Butler and Coral Tomascik. Age Group Awards followed drinks and sandwiched.. and a good afternoon was had by all. The next event is the CNB...
Great to see and hear Cayman Swimmers believing they can swim FAST. And..getting used to the idea of what is fast....and what is possible... Yesterday, at Australian Long Course Age Groups, a 12yr old girl won the 100m backstroke in 1:03.8, and a 14yr old girl went 2:00.99 in the 200m free. The swimmers aren't freaks.... YOU can swim these times..or certainly times within striking distance. Just keep raising your expectations of WHAT'S FAST
The Ernst & Young Duel In The Pool took place at the Lion's Pool last night. Fast Swimming, Close Racing and Fun was definitely on the menu. Initially it looked as though Team Ernst had won the meet BUT after a protest (all in good humour) the Jury of Appeal did a recount and the title was indeed awarded to Team Young. And...and good time was had by all!
The LIME 800m Sea Swim takes place tomorrow at Governor's Beach. Get your swimming kit ready and prepare to hit the water! Splish Splosh Splash!
