A team of 20+ CBAC swimmers head to Orlando tomorrow to compete in the Highlander Long Course Invitational Meet. The team, mostly young swimmers, will be under the watchful eye of Coach Jessica Seigel and Coach Dave Bott. Fast Swimming Here We Come!
Ian Armiger will step down from the position of Technical Director of the Cayman Islands Amatuer Swimming Association at the end of July. Although he enjoys living in Cayman; the location, lifestyle and the people, he misses the Performance Environment where the sole focus is FAST SWIMMING and where his passion lies. Dr. Di Bass will be visiting Cayman from 8th-15th May. Di is a world class coach, responsible for the development of many swimmers such as James Gibson (World Champion 50m Breaststroke 2003); she was also Great Britain Paraympic Team Coach. Her area of academic study is "The Coach-Swimmer-Parent Triangle" and she will talk to the coaches on this whilst here. A warm Cayman welcome awaits her I'm sure!

Brandon Williams cruised to victory in the recent CNB Cayman Brac 800m Sea Swim. Swim long and strong...and assisted by a strong surging current over the closing stages..Brandon outswam his competitors to lift the title. With a good turn out in idyllic conditions, the sea swim proved to be a well suported and well organised event. Congratulations to all involved.
CARIFTA medallists, Samantha Bailey and Coral Tomascik, appeared on Cayman 27's Let's Talk Sports last night. They talked of their experiences in Jamaica, their medal winning performances and their desire to conitnue to improve over the coming yeear. Fast Swimming....THEY love it!!!
When racing Swim Caps should be as smooth as possible (wear two if you have to) and Goggles Straps should be worn under the cap. This helps aid streamlining through the water...no dangling bits of elastic etc. Yes, our swimmers have many other issues to address, but always good to get into good habits early. And...swimmers should always take a spare pair of goggles to the starting block. All part of being professional.
