Two exciting sea swims are fast approaching. On May 25th the 11th Annual Butterflield 800m swim will take place and once again we welcome swimmers and delegates from Special Olympics International to the event. The swimmers and delegates, from the Caribbean and Central America, will participate in a swim clinic before the race. The race takes place at Governor's Beach and registration is 3.00pm for a 4.00pm start. On June 15th the world famous Flowers Mile takes place and this year there is the added event of the Under Water...

Emma Hollis, Paralympian & World Record Holder, who recently visited Cayman as part of Honouring Women's Month and wowed everyone with her inspirational story is almost back to her best. Emma, who competed in the 2012 Paralympics with a broken ankle and dislocated elbow, recently raced in the British International Disabiltiy Championships and took Gold in the 100m freestyle (1st European) and Gold in the 400m freestyle (3rd European); her times of 1:12.84 and 5:28.41 being just outside her lifetime bests. The 2016 USA Olympic Trials will be held in Omaha, Nebraska. The venue will house 2 temporary 50m pools and cater for 17,000 spectators. The USA Olympic Trials is a great spectacle.... Well worth a visit... Watch out for tickets being released!

CBAC swimmers took down 4 more records at the Highlander Invitational Meet in Orlando Florida. Jordan Crooks, made it a double celebration; setting new CIASA figures of 33.96 in the 9/10yrs 50m freestyle (5th) then going on to sprint to bronze in the 50m butterfly with a 38.29. So close to the 8rs &Under CIASA records yesterday; Stefano Bonati and Sophie Ackerley made no mistakes today; Stefano setting new CIASA records of 1:48.08 in the 100m backstroke and 2:00.58 in the 100m breaststroke; Sophie taking the 8rys & U 10m...

Jordan Crooks continued his record breaking ways by taking down the CIASA 9/10yrs 100m freestyle record at the Highlander Invitational Meet in Orlando. Utilising his athletic abilty, technique and turn of speed, Jordan blasted his way to a time of 1:13.67 to slash almost 1.5 seconds of the previous record which was set in 2000 by Brett Fraser and take 5th place. Sophie Ackerley and Stefano Bonati were also close to setting new CIASA figures in the 8yrs & U category; Sophie's 54.76 being just 0.18 outside the current record...

FINA will soon discuss a proposed change of rules for breaststroke. The proposed changes are SW 7.1 After the start, the swimmer may take one arm stroke completely back to the legs during which the swimmer may be completely submerged for a distance of not more than 15 metres. Multiple Butterfly kicks are permitted while completely submerged. Once the swimmer's head breaks the surface of the water, the stroke cycle must be one arm stroke and one leg kick in that order. All movements of the arms shall be simultaneous...

Cayman Swim Visitor, Joe Roebuck, is now sleeping in an altitude tent...which, by he way, takes up much of his room! The 2013 Malaysian Long Course Age Group Championships have just taken place in Kuala Lumpur. The results are worth looking through so you can see we would be competitive in several events.
