The 18 strong Cayman CARIFTA Team has arrived safely in Jamaica and after checking into the hotel headed to the pool for a swim session. The team, getting valuable long course practise before the meet, are in fine form. Fast Swimming.. Here We Come!
Geoffrey Butler returned from his UK base just in time to take to the waters for the Camana Bay Aquatic Club 800m Sea Swim. Anxious to get a little Open Water action in before he heads to CARIFTA, Geoff cruised his way around the 800m loop course to be the first swimmer to cross the line; Iain McCallum taking 2nd place and Andrew Smilley (Special Olympian) taking 3rd. Honouring Women's Month Guest, Emma Hollis, crossed the line as the fastest female in what was her first ever Open Water Race....
CARIFTA preparations for the Cayman Swim Team are on track. Yesterday, the second and final Team Training session was held at the Camana Bay Pool with Coaches Ian Armiger, Kate Lambert and Andy Copley directing proceedings. Already buoyed by inspirational tales from visiting Paralympian Emma Hollis, the 18 strong team were stimulated with Coach Katie's and Coach Andy's 20 Minute Specials which were designed to entertain and build team spirit. With the Team Management expertise of Jeff Wight and Sandy Hew the team are now ready for rapidly approaching Showtime!...
The final Sea Swim in the CBAC series,the 200m/800m event will be held today at Governors Beach. Registration is from 2.00pm - 2.45pm and the action kicks off at 3.00pm. Visiting Paralympian, Emma Hollis, will be racing in the 800m event. Get your suits and head for the beach!

Hugh Porter and Anita Lonsborough, two sporting legends from the 1960's, are cruising into Cayman today. Hugh, a 4 Times Individual Pursuit World Cycling Champion and Anita, the Olympic 200m Breaststroke Gold Medallist from 1960, will meet up with Ian Armiger (Technical Director) and his wife Sylvia, for a tour of the island.
