CARIFTA swimmers recently gathered for a Team Building evening. In adddition to delicous 'healthy option" food, the swimmers were treated to a variety of team games hosted by Coach Andy (that well know thespian) and Coach Katie. A fun time was had by all and the team is definitely TOGETHER CARIFTA here we come!!!

The Vice President of CIASA ..and swimmer extraordinaire...Michael Lockwood, was recently "called to the bar". Michael,who works for Ogier, is now a fully qualified Lawyer. Congratulations to Michael on this great achievement....and also on turning out to be a fine fellow!

The South America Age Group Championships (long course) are being held in Valparaiso, Chile 14th -17th March. The results are available here http://www.fechida.cl/?cat=171 The website takes a bit of negotiating but it can be done... Enjoy keeping abreast of the competition!

The Shamrock Splash Invitational will be hosted by Camana Bay Aquatic Club this Saturday (16th March). The meet, catering for swimmers in the 10yrs & under category, provides an exciting opportunity for racing. CIASA has launched the CIASA Approved Programmes (CAPs) scheme. The initiative has been introduced to recognise quality Learn To Swim Programmes and to acknowledge the important role they play in a swimmer's progression on the development pathway, from the early stages of water confidence through to the acquisition of swimming skills. Participation in the scheme is voluntary and programmes that register with CIASA will be awarded a CAP's Kitemark to set them apart from other local providers if they meet the required quality assurance standards. CIASA endorsement will also help...

The Island Games will be held in Bermuda 13th - 19th July. http://natwestislandgames2013.com/index.html Entries are due mid April so CARIFTA will be the last chance for swimmers to post Quaifying Times to be considered for selection. Matthew Courtis & Danielle Boothe have been selected to atttend the CARIFTA Championships in Jamaica. Matthew (Stingray Swim Club) will represent Barbados and Danielle (Camana Bay Aquatic Club) will represent Jamaica. Congratulations to both.. and Let's get behind all in the Cayman Swimming Family... Fast Swimming! We Love It!!

The CARIFTA countdown for our team has begun. Entries were submitted last week, travel and accommodation plans finalised, kit due to arrive and team buildng + training sessions planned.....it's all systems go for our team of 18 swimmers and 5 staff. Exciting times are ahead... Let the FAST SWIMMING begin!

Arrangements for the 2013 Flowers Sea Swim are now well underway. in addtion to the world famous 1 mile on 15th June there is also an opportunity to compete over 5km/10km on 17th June. Alex McCallum (pictured) travels to the UK tomorrow for a 3 week training camp at Loughborough University Alex, who will study Business & Finance at the university from September, will train alongside some of the World's finest swimmers and will also have the opportunity to compete in the prestigious City of Sheffield Premier Meet at the end of the camp.
