Cayman's Geoffrey Butler took silver in the 17yr+ 1500m freestyle at the South Western Regional Youth Championships held at Millfield School. Geoffrey, 6 times medallist at the recent CARIFTA Championships, paced his way a fine early training cycle time of 16:31.71 to take second spot.This swim, his second fastest ever over the distance, demonstrates his level of consistency in this event. Cayman swimmers, Matthw Courtis, Geoffrey Butler and Lara Butler are racing at the South West Youth Championships which are being held at Millfield School. The meet is providing an early cycle "hit out" for these swimmers; all three being heavily involved with exam preparations at this point in time. Whilst GENE THERAPY is aimed at curing muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis and other conditions, GENE DOPING is aimed at getting perfectly healthy people to run, jump, swim, throw and lift faster and further. Stefanie Boothe has been presented with a special racing suit as a result of her CARIFTA swim. Stefanie's performance in the 100m butterfly at CARIFTA saw her improve her entry time by some 13.63 seconds: a 15.25% improvement. This was the highest percentage drop of any swimmer on the team. The suit was donated by PAW swimwear in the UK. Well Done Stefanie!
More and more Cayman swimmers are getting on the Fast Swimming Train..... Training twice per day (swim + land) addressing area of nutrition etc...and pursuing their dreams of FAST SWIMMING. These records are separate from our CIASA Records and reflect times acheived by those with Caymanian Status. If you spot any anomalies please bring these to our attention.....we welcome these comments as they will assist us in formulating an accurate set of records. Cayman swimmers are training well and looking good! A few days Post CARIFTA break helped recharge the batteries and get them ready for the next training cycle which will lead to some FAST SWIMMING at the forthcoming meets...particularly the end of cycle target meet! After a mediocre Olympics (by their standards) the Australians are back in the swim. Firing it up at their World Trials is James Magnussen 47.53 100m freestyle and Cate Campbell with a 52.83 100m freestyle (in the semi finals with a breath going into the finish!)
