Swimmers who break CIASA Records will be awarded a Certficate of Recongnition to mark their achievement. Records set from 1st January 2013 will be marked with the coveted awards (see example) and swimmers will be presented with these in the coming days. Great to recognise FAST SWIMMING!

CARIFTA Qualifiers 2013 The Cayman Islands Amatuer Swimming Association announced the 18 strong team which will represent the Nation at the forthcoming CARIFTA Championships which are to be held in Jamaica 30th March to 3rd April. Three more CIASA Records fell on the final day of the Pete Ribbins Memorial Meet held at the Lions Pool. Stephanie Royston, fresh from setting records in the 200m free and 100m butterfly, completed a hat trick by claiming the 8ys & under 200m IM in 3:46.34. Avery Lambert, also swimming in the 8yrs & under, smashed her own 100m backstroke record with a 1:46.51. Cayman swimmers once again delivered a host of lifetime best performances at the Pete Ribbins Memorial Short Course Meet held at The Lions Pool. Stephanie Royston,pictured modelling Liam Tancock's World Gold Medal, smashed the CIASA 8yrs& U 100m buterfly record with a 1:54.97 and the 8yrs & U 200m freestyle record of 3:33.58.....FAST SWIMMING! Kavanagh Lambert put together a smooth 100m butterfly of 1:14.87 to take the 13/14yrs title; Stefanie Boothe also swam under 1:20 to take gold in the 11/12yrs in a fine 1:18.21. Local swimmer, Christopher Courtis, annihilated his 100m backstroke lifetime best at the Canadian Interuniversities Championships in Calgary. Fresh from his success in yesterday's 50m backstroke, Chris blasted his way to a 57.02 100m backstroke to finish in 19th place. His time narrowly missed the final but now puts him within 1.3 seconds of the CIASA Short Course Record. YES...it's all happening in Cayman Swimming! Great Job Chris!
Christopher Courtis opened his account at the Canadian Inter Universities Championships in Calgary with a lifetime best performance. It was definitely a case of "lights out" during the Pete Ribbins Memorial Meet but not in the traditional sense. The opening events progressed without a hitch but during the anticipated 1500m freesyle a fuse blew and the closing stages of the race were completed without light. However, a geat race ensued; the pre race anticipation not disappointing the crowd. Lauren Hew took out the race over the opening 100m, Ashley Theaker pacing her way over the opening stages while on the other side of the pool katie Klein and...
