Cayman based swimmers amassed 8 medals in the 100m freestyle this evening....including 3 gold! Ali Jackson continued her magnificent meet by taking the 9/10yrs 100m freestyle in 1:13.37...a mere 2 one hundredths outside the CIASA record which has stood for 13yrs! Zachary Moore responded in the 9/10ys boys with a bronze medal winning swim of 1:15.84; Jordan Crook finishing 4th in 1:19.38 Sam Bailey clinched silver in the 11/12yrs 100m freestyle in 1:08.74 whilst Sarah Jackson continued to prove her race toughness with a bronze medal; her time of 1:11.77...

Whilst our swimmers are being Solar Powered and racing FAST in the heat of Jamaica, spare a thought for Joe Roebuck who is on an Altitude Training Camp in Sierra Nevada, Spain. The camp takes place at 2,320m and lasts for 3 weeks... All in the pursuit of FAST swimming... We Love It!

Cayman swimmers are "all over the meet" during the opening events of Day 2 in Jamaica! Samantha Bailey and Ella Plunkett opened the proceeedings with gold and silver in the 11/12yrs 200m backstroke; both improving their CARIFTA Times with 2:42.66 and 2:51,23 respectively; Jade Barnes placing 6th in 3:09.56.Sam Burnstein took bronze in the 11/12yrs 200m backstroke with a new CARIFTA time of 2:55.31 whilst teammate Eddie Weber finished 7th in 3:05.33. Isabella Tognazzo took bronze in the 13/14yrs 200m backstroke (2:46.24) but unfortnately backstroke specialist, Lauren Hew, was disqualified...

How about some one length sprints in this....?? The World's longest pool! The pool is over 1,000yds long and is in Chile! Now that's what we call Long Course! Enjoy!

Kavanagh Lambert, Matthew Somerville and Danielle Boothe all lifted 400m IM titles in Jamaica. Kavanagh took the 11/12yrs girls 400m IM in 5:49.73 (CARIFTA time) whilst Matthew Somerville lifted the boys 11/12yrs title in 6:14.67 (also a CARIFTA time). Danielle Boothe swam a well paced race to take the girls 15/17yrs 400m IM in 5:20.57, ahead of teammate Coral Tomascik in 5:35.42. Isabella Tognazzo was once again on the podium; her 6:07.79 400m IM swim being good enough for silver in the 13.14yrs girls; Flynn Hope finishing 4th in 6:26.70....

Cayman swimmers produced some outstanding swims during the first evening of the Walter Rodgers Meet in Jamaica. Kavanagh Lambert opened the proceedings with a fine silver medal winning performance in the 11/12yrs 200m IM (2:47.03) with Stefanie Boothe placing 4th (2:58.27), Ella Plunkett 5th (2:59.78) and Sarah Jackson 7th (3:01.89); Kavanagh, Stefanie and Ella all being inside the CARIFTA Qualifying Time. Today is a Public Holiday but Cayman swimmers are in the pool working out as usual.. Just as it should be.. The Cayman Fast Swimming Bus doesnt stop for holidays at this point in the training cycle Great to see!

Cayman Swim Star, Brett Fraser, has declared his intent to compete at the World Championships in Barcelona this summer. Brett, Pan Amercan Games Champion and Olympic Semi Finalist, will race in the 50m & 100m freestyle at the meet which takes place 19th July - 4th August. He is currently based in Miami and regaining fitness after a short post Olympic rest. Great to see Brett back in the swim!!

A large contingent of Cayman swimmers are heading to Jamaica to compete in the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships. The swimmers,from CBAC and Stingray, will gain invaluable experience of long course racing as they compete in a host of events from the 14th - 17th February. Included in the group is Danielle Boothe (pictured after completing the recent 400m Sea Swim on Butterfly) who will be looking to impress the selectors and secure a place on Jamaican Team for CARIFTA.
