Lara Butler improved on her prelims time and set a new lifetime best in the semi final of the 200m butterfly at the ASA National Championships but narrowly missed the elusive target of a Commonwealth Games Qualifying Time. A controlled first 100m and a much better 3rd 50m saw Lara within striking distance of the time; only the closing stages seeing her tie up slightly, Lara's time was 2:22.21, only 0.34 outside the required time. Lara finished the finals session in style with a personal best relay split of 2:09.94...

Geoffrey Bulter, CARIFTA and Island Games Champion, will feature in tonight's finals session at the ASA National Championships in Sheffield, UK. Geoffrey is part of the Plymouth Leander 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay who have qualified as 7th fastest for the final; Geoff's split was 1:57.23. Lara Butler, gradually getting used to the long course racing environment, swam to a lifetime best of 1:05.69 in the prelims of the 100m butterfly yesterday. The question before the final of the Men's 200m IM at the World Championships could have refelcted Ryan Lochte's reality TV show "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" The answer was to take GOLD and retain his WorldTitle in 1:54.98 ahead of rivals Kosuke Hagina (Japan) 1:56.29 and Thiago Pereira (Brazil) 1:56.30. South African swim stars, Chad Le Clos and Cameron Van De Burgh, made their country proud when they struck gold in tonight's finals session at the World Championships in Barcelona. Chad le Clos, nicknamed the Phelps Slayer after his victory in London last eyar, played a waiting game in the 200m butterfly, a blistering final 50m seeing off the opposition. Le Clos took Gold in 1:54.32 ahead of Pawel Korzenowski (Pol) 1:55.01 and Wu Peng (China) 1:55.09). Cameron Van De Burgh, anxious to turn the tables on 100m breaststroke winner...

Lara and Geoffrey Butler took to the magic of waters of Ponds Forge Pool, Sheffield to open their accounts at the ASA National Youth & Senior Championships. Lara, the medals machine from the Island Games in Bermuda, took on the 200m IM and swam to within 1 second of her CIASA Record.
